Today's Tarot - The Devil

Der Teufel! El Diablo!

Even though they're cats, this card holds well and true to Rider-Waite imagery, as they are chained to "The Devil." Rather than the Christian symbolism of the fallen angel, this "devil" is the weight of their demons. A bit of hellfire surrounds a big box of demons. The inversed pentagram is a fits with the image of the pair as heavy-metal-rocker types, but most Pagans cringe when the pentagram is associated with things "demonic" - it takes a lot of explanation and energy to explain that it's NOT what Wiccans and other Pagans believe.

Now that the moon is waning, this is a good card for me for reflection. Personally, it's a reminder to me to not be chained to my personal demons and to move forward.
