| Subject: | Today's Tarot - Five of Swords (Tarot of Pagan Cats) |

I had a strong memory of a friend I haven't spoken to in over a year. We have a strange relationship that hasn't been without its ups and downs, but I still consider this person a close friend.
One of the things this friend believes strongly is that the New Moon is the time to throw things out, or to make changes. But Lady Moon is definitely waxing now, and I don't want to ditch the friendship in any way. So, I pulled up a photo of this friend and shuffled the deck.
At first I got the Three of Wands, but that came up the other day, so I put it back and re-shuffled, mainly because of the academic exercise of exploring Tarot. Learning and teaching is a big part of this particular relationship. Continuing to shuffle, a card said, pick-me...the Five of Swords.
The Trickster, the deceiver, one who wins by cheating.
But nobody "won" in this relationship, which is an alternative meaning.
More reflection is in order. I miss my friend.
But to the card! The "deceiver" in Robin's deck is red-haired; the cat, however, is black-and-white. Fitting to the "nobody wins" theme of Los Gatos, this fits. The cat has the swords, but no friends. The black and white cats on the pier behind him eye him with suspicion and distrust; has he cheated them?
*sigh*
